This little ham turned one on August 17th. I can't believe it. Time truly does fly by. We had an awesome week looking back at the memories we have created this first year with her. We had many discussions this week that started with, "Well this time last year we were...".
My favorite is still, "This time last year we became parents and were just hoping and praying God would show us what to do because we didn't have a clue!" After lots of prayers, calls to our parents, texting our friends, Google searches and Pinterest boards we somehow figured it out. We are beyond bless to have Ava in our lives and for the family and friends who have supported us throughout this journey so far.
Ava's birthday fell on a Wednesday this year so that meant daycare for her and work for us. We made sure to give her 1,345 birthday hugs and kisses before we dropped her off at daycare. She wore this cute little shirt that read, "Happy Birthday to Me" for about 30 minutes at daycare before she had a blowout and had to be changed.
That afternoon when she got home from daycare she played in her tunnel and ball pit we gave her for her birthday.
Then we had some fun with our Photo Booth that Daddy made for us (details on that DIY coming soon).
After snapping away, we sang happy birthday and had cake! I made her cake from scratch using the 3-2-1 recipe. I know she can't tell that it's a cake made from scratch but I know.
She had a blast with her smash cake.
Then this happened...
Looking back at the pictures I can see Joey's sneaky plan written all over his face!
I never saw it coming...
I guess the party isn't complete with a little cake smash in the face.
We ended the night with lots of snuggles and extra kisses to wish this little one a very happy first birthday!
That following Saturday we celebrated her first birthday with our family. Details on that and the party decor coming soon! Make sure to check back!
Thank you to all of our family and friends who took time out of their day to wish Ava a very happy birthday. We are truly blessed!
