Today I am giving a tour of our formal sitting room and talking about one of my favorite walls in our home.
When you walk into our home the first room you see is our formal sitting room. It's funny because when we decided to create this room I wondered if we would even use it. Not many houses these days has formal sitting room.
I am happy to say that we use the heck out of this room. It allows us to escape the T.V. and toys and just enjoy each other's company. We also find ourselves many times sitting in this room with our guests.
One of my favorite things about this room is the gallery wall. This wall probably has 3,563,789 holes hiding behind all of the frames. It has taken me 2 1/2 years and A LOT of trials to get to a gallery wall that I absolutely love! Most of the frames I bought from Ikea and a few of the pieces are DIY's I completed.
My favorite piece on the wall has become Ava's little newborn footprints.
This happily ever after sign and the letter T are DIY's I completed after Joey and I got married.
This shelf I found at Target a few years ago.
This basket is also something I found at Target and use it to store our blankets. I LOVE this basket!
The decor on this end table is still a working progress. This is an old oil lamp that was my grandmother's and the old mason jar holds a few little things from our honeymoon in Kauai.
My parents picked up this cotton bail for me in Mississippi. Thankfully Ava has only tried to pull the cotton out once. I feel like this cotton bail could be a toddler's dream!
Another of of my favorite pieces in this room are these wooden chairs. They used to belong to my grandparents as well as this brass table that came from Egypt.
I'm also still working on the decor for this table. This is what I have right now just because I don't have a place for this DIY tray I made after our honeymoon. After having Ava we got rid of our coffee table in the living room some things (including this) lost it's home.
This DIY was super easy. I bought this tray on clearance at Target, cut out Kaua'i from a map, and Modge Podged it on the tray. I used the antique tinted Modge Podged to give it a distressed look.
Another one of my favorite walls is my canvas gallery wall below. This canvases are actually bigger than what they look in this picture. It took me a while to do this wall and I am trying to figure out what images I want to add to it. I bought these from Printer Pix using a bunch of coupons I purchase from Groupon. No one should ever pay full price for a canvas. There are ALWAYS coupons on Groupon!
Last but not least is our chalkbaord/ Ava's art work/ hat hanging wall. I found this old chalkboard at a yard sale that some of my friends and I were having and I decided to use this wall to hang Ava's art work from daycare and my husband's hats.
There you have it. That is our formal sitting room. Of course, I have a wish list of things I would like to do to it, but until then I love it just as it is.
