Last weekend Joey and I headed to Jekyll Island for my cousins wedding. It was nice to celebrate with family, see some family that we haven't seen in a while and have a mini vacation. The first day we arrived we went to see Driftwood Beach and get out and about. This was Ava's first time at the beach. Unfortunately, it was so cold and windy that we didn't stay long at all.
That night we went to dinner with my sister and brother in law (it's so cool saying that). We had a nice meal at a little country restaurant. The owner sat us and said if Ava started crying while we were eating she would be more than happy to hold her for us so we could finish our meal. She mentioned she had several children and grandkids and great grandkids so she knew how to handle babies. I thought that was so nice of her. Luckily, Ava slept through dinner. The next day Joey and I headed out early to try and find a glass ball (glass treasure) on the island. This time of year they put out 5 glass balls made by different artist for the guests to try and find. It's a great idea because it gets people out and about exploring the island. It was so windy and so cold that morning so my parents watched Ava for us. We didn't find one but we did have a great time exploring the island together.
At one of our stops Joey went to the bathroom. When he walked out he had this bow on his head. I died laughing and asked him where he got it from. His reply was, "They're EVERYWHERE!". Ok, so I may or may not have Ava's bows everywhere. I love his silliness and these moments together.
We continued on our hunt stopping at different places on the island. This is the Horton House. We didn't find a glass ball but I did find a ton of ticks on and in my shoe.
After this spot we had enough of the woods and headed to my favorite spot on the island, Driftwood Beach. This place is so cool.
After Driftwood Beach we decided we had had enough of the cold weather and headed back to the hotel to visit with family and get ready for the wedding. The wedding was beautiful and we had such a great time. Ava was so good during the ceremony and the reception. I am quickly learning that as our family gets bigger, it's hard to get everyone to look at the camera at the same time.
The next morning we got up early to get ready to head home in time to pick up our fur baby before the pet resort to closed. We were up super early and when Joey went to go find a cart for our luggage he came back with this instead...
A crib! Yup, that's right. There were no luggage carts so we used this crib instead.
Joey also wrote this note and posted it in the front lobby where they store the carts. :)
This trip was filled with lots of family, love, laughter and good times. We had such a wonderful time! Hopefully we can return to Jekyll Island in the future when Ava is a little bit older.
