Last weekend, Joey and I had another weekend getaway to Orlando. My parents watched Ava for us while we had a weekend to ourselves. We had such a great time!
The first night we stayed at Cabana Bay again. We had such a great time on our first Mommy and Daddy Staycation that we wanted to go back. This time Joey bought one of the cool drink cups that allows you to get unlimited refills. We felt like the cool kids.
Friday night we had dinner at Universal's new restaurant, Toothsome Chocolate Emporium and Savory Feast Kitchen.
The restaurant just had its grand opening so we had about an hour wait for out table (which is actually pretty normal at City Walk). As we waited we toured the gift shop. Oh my! There were delicious sweets everywhere! From endless amounts of cotton candy, candy apples, to bacon ice cream.
Once our table was ready they showed us to our table and handed us the menu book. Yes, that's right a menu book!
The first things we ordered were truffle fries and warm chocolate almond bread. Both of them were delicious. The almond bread was almost like dessert so I saved my half to take home.
For dinner I had their chicken bourguignon and Joey had their fettuccine carbonara.
We wanted dessert but we were just too full. So we went back the next day for lunch and grabbed some appetizers and dessert. We had the totchos and the philly cheesesteak rolls.
Dessert was so hard to decide on. They have a variety of delicious shakes and sundaes. The shakes are like nothing I have ever seen! One is even served with a cupcake on top!
We decided to go with a sundae and chose their Brookies, Cookies, and Cream Sundae. Oh. My. Goodness! It was AMAZING! It was probably one of the best desserts I've had.
After our bellies were full we headed over to Universal's Sapphire Resort to see if we could check in early. Our room wasn't ready yet but they allowed us to leave our luggage at the lobby and let us use the facilities at the resort. We explored the beautiful tropical themed resort and then headed to the pool for the afternoon.
Later that night we went to Halloween Horror Nights. We had a blast. With our fast passes we had plenty of time to ride some rides and make it to all of the haunted houses. I highly recommend getting a fast pass if you are going. It's worth it!
After about the third ride I had severe motion sickness and found myself sick in the bathroom. So for the rest of the rides Joey rode by himself and I played in the gift shops!
The next morning we enjoyed our last meal together for the weekend without the baby. For part of the breakfast we sat in silence and enjoyed the quietness.
This weekend was another wonderful getaway for us. We were able to relax and have some quality time together. I am so thankful for my husband who plans and organizes these trips.
Join me in my journey as a wife, new mom and a baker as I learn to balance all of life's aprons.
