"Please last a few mores days, please last a few more days!" I feel like I say this every year to our tree. We have always had a real tree and we have made it a tradition to go get our tree the day after Thanksgiving. Every year I get afraid that it won't last until Christmas. Luckily, I haven't had a tree disappoint me yet!
When it comes to decorating our tree I am a big fan of the old fashion red and green and putting sentimental ornaments on our tree. Some of the ornaments we made when we were little, some we have made with Ava, some we bought during our travels, and some were given to us. They all have a story to tell.
Here are some of my favorite this year. The first one is an ornament we made with our dog a few years ago. The second one is Joey's. He recieved this spider from one of his teachers when he was little. Every year we go through the, "I promise I didn't throw it away! It's in here somewhere," while trying to find it in the ornament box. The last one is still one of my favorites. It contains Ava's hosipital beanie and bracelets from the day she was born.
Ava has been pretty good at not touching the ornaments until the other day. She discovered a bug catcher ornament that has a little fake bug glued on the inside. She sticks her tiny fingers in there and tries to yank the bug out!
We usually have white lights on our tree but this year we decided to go with colored lights for Ava. When we turn on the lights she says, "Whoooaaa!" It's the cutest thing ever.
Our tree is much bigger this year than last year so I had to hang our stockings by the front door. That way Santa can fill them right when he walks in!
We only have a few days left until Christmas and I have my fingers crossed that our beautiful tree makes it until then. It has plenty of water and lots of love!
Here are some behind the scene looks at this year's tree shopping and decorating.
Merry Christmas Everyone!
