Last Friday night our church hosted an event called Sisterhood. It is a ladies ministry of Grace City Church that gathers for the purpose of being encouraged, equipped, and mobilized to live out our God given purpose. I attended for the first time last Friday.
I went by myself without knowing a single person there. My plan was to go and meet a bunch of wonderful ladies and make some new friends.
I got all dolled up for my Friday girls night out and headed to the church. I walked in the chapel to find hundreds of women. I looked around and looked around some more just trying to soak it all in. At this point my nerves were in high gear. A nice lady asked me if I was looking for someone. Trying to hold back the tears I just started crying. I felt like a kindergartner on their first day of school. I don’t know what got into me. The tears totally surprised me! I usually have a very easy time meeting people and socializing. I guess I didn’t realize that these days I always have my husband or our daughter with me. I feel like it is a lot easier to meet others when you have someone with you.
Anyhow, this nice lady who I now know as Melissa introduced me to another nice lady named Kerstin. She invited me to sit with her for the service and then from there she introduced me to another nice lady and well you can see the pattern. By the end of the night I had met many wonderful ladies.
Sisterhood began with some amazing praise and worship. Then three women shared their testimony on faithfulness. The night ended with an after party behind the chapel with food trucks, coffee, music, and great fellowship. I didn’t get home until 10:30! It was so much fun! I can’t wait for the next one!
Join me in my journey as a wife, new mom and a baker as I learn to balance all of life's aprons.
